Privacy Policy

BiteType! is a static browser typing game available at playbitetype.com. This policy explains what the game stores or may send while you play.
Information We Do Not Ask For
BiteType! does not require an account, email address, name, payment information, or social login to play.
Information Stored On Your Device
The game uses your browser's localStorage to remember your high score, audio settings, gameplay/display settings, a randomly generated anonymous browser ID, Classroom student tokens, and a legacy mute preference. This information stays in your browser unless you clear site data or your browser syncs it under your own browser settings.
Anonymous Gameplay Results
After a standard non-practice run, BiteType! may send an anonymous gameplay result to help us test and improve future ranking and benchmark features. This result may include the route, final money, WPM, correct and incorrect keystroke counts, completed and partial orders, best combo, route duration, client version, timestamp, and the anonymous browser ID. We do not ask for your name, email address, or account information for these gameplay results. Rankings may be calculated by the service, but public rank display may be disabled while enough real results are collected.
Classroom Mode
BiteType! Classroom lets a teacher create a class link and review results from students who join that class. In Classroom mode, students enter a display name chosen for the class. We store the classroom name, class code, teacher access token hash, student display names, student access token hashes, assigned class settings, and class gameplay results such as route, final money, WPM, correct and incorrect keystrokes, completed and partial orders, best combo, route duration, client version, and timestamp. Classroom results are kept inside that class and are not added to the anonymous global result pool.
Anyone with the teacher dashboard link can view the class roster and class results, so teachers should keep that link private. Anyone with the student link can join that class and view the class leaderboard.
Operational Events And Errors
The game has optional hooks for analytics and error reporting. If configured, these hooks may send basic operational data such as a random session ID, page path, user agent, timestamp, gameplay events, settings changes, and error details. If no endpoint is configured, these hooks do nothing.
Support Messages
Public GitHub feedback links are not used because the repository is private. If you contact [email protected], the information you include in your message will be used to respond to that request.
Hosting And Service Providers
The site may be served through hosting, CDN, DNS, or security providers such as Cloudflare. Those providers may process technical information such as IP address, browser details, and request logs as part of delivering and protecting the site.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We may share limited technical information with service providers that help host, secure, operate, or debug the site, or when required by law.
Children
BiteType! is a general-audience typing game. The standard game does not ask for names. Classroom mode may be used by teachers or schools, and student display names entered in a class are visible inside that class. If you believe a child has provided information that should be removed, contact [email protected].
Changes
This policy may be updated as the game changes, especially when operational tooling is added. The "Last updated" date will change when the policy is revised.
